SMX 2009
Victorian Conference of Science and Medicine in Sport and Exercise
SMX2009 was a huge success with 210 participants enjoying a day of professional development and networking at the Sebel Hotel, Albert Park. Speakers addressed a variety of topics focusing on injury prevention and management for elite sports, especially cycling, along with more sedentary activities for men, women and the elderly.
Keynote speakers included the Michael Kenihan Lecture, delivered by Mr. James Montgomery, Director Community Sports and Recreation, Sport and Recreation Victoria, outlining the State Government’s role in addressing how to get Victorian’s to participate more in sport and recreation. Associate Professor Elizabeth Eakin presented her keynote presentation on how to encourage various community groups to change their behavioral approaches to physical activity.
